Job Description
Job objective:
Development, implementation and management of Batelco’s strategies for international submarine and terrestrial cable network expansion projects with best-in-class transport solutions, optimal flexibility & scalability, and unmatched delivery and availability performance along with optimized operation and maintenance arrangements. Monetize the cable investments to support sales teams with pre-sales information decks and negotiating sales agreements.
Responsibilities:
Strategic
• Manage Batelco investments in subsea and terrestrial systems (technical and commercial)
• Manage the cable consortium activities for the best interest of Batelco
• Represent actively and take key roles in subsea committees.
• Communicate and implement strategies, contracts and pricing with an overall focus on maintaining long term partner relationships.
• Contribute to setting a strategy for Sales & Marketing to maximize utilization and returns of the subsea cable business
• Recommending regional carrier partnership strategies for establishing long term relationships with key vendors and peers
Financial:
• Lead the business negotiation process with internal partners and suppliers.
• Manage all commercial activities related to the investments in new submarine cable initiatives, including building the business case and supporting the decision on prioritisation of investments.
• Negotiate vendor contracts for the procurement of subsea equipment/facilities as required.
• Build and maintain capex/opex cash flow forecast, budget control sheets on monthly/quarterly basis
• Validate invoices and process payments for vendors in timely manner
Operational
• Ensure that the submarine system projects are carried in accordance to the project plan and the business case
• Developing and negotiating MSA and other partnership contracts relating to subsea business.
• Ensure adopting efficient Operation & Maintenance arrangements
• Experience and skills in business development and partnerships, including relationships with MNOs, project sponsors, and vendors
• Prepare Management approval notes highlighting key deal principles, highlighting key risk areas and with business justifications for investment/sale
• Enabling all relevant components or systems to support the overall cable/network/infrastructure operation. This includes, but is not limited to, activities related to establishing/managing the arrangement of (PoPs).
• Manage all aspects of international submarine cable systems from Strategy, project/program management, design, and implementation.
• Negotiate best commercials for Landing Party agreements
• Track project progress and report to management on progress on regular basis
• Solid commercial and legal background in reviewing cable system construction agreements, and marine surveys
• Propose and contribute to submarine system plan, design, development, pre-sales, post-sales support, sales agreements.
• Ensure effective participation in the required regulatory process to ensure required permissions are obtained for implementation of submarine projects
People
• Ability to collaborate internally and externally, build relationships, negotiate complex deals, and close agreements.
• Work with internal and external teams to ensure seamless arrangements are put in place for the various projects.
• Take ownership for self-development and attend trainings as per the plan
• Take ownership for completing PMS process, employee engagement surveys in time
• Continuously share the knowledge and understanding of the telecom industry and business trends

• Must be analytical, detail oriented and results focused.

• Willing to travel undertake short-term business trips.
• Excellent communication skills with higher management.
Qualifications:
• BA/BS or equivalent in technical or business-related field
• Experience in optical fibre communications is preferred
Experience:
• Business and technical knowledge of connectivity infrastructure products.
• Knowledge of strategic sourcing process.

• Ability to lead people and move things forward in ambiguous environment.
• Willing to travel undertake short-term business trips.
• Excellent communication skills with higher management. • At least 5-7 years’ experience in International Infrastructure Systems
• Knowledge of capacity products (Dark fiber, spectrum, IPLC, Lease capacity) and IP Transit, peering etc.
• Experience of dealing with network equipment vendors
• Experience with Project/Program Management tools.
• Extensive knowledge in Business Planning, Forecasting and Business case Development.
• Track record of active participation of international infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in working effectively in the international telecommunications community at all levels with a set of contacts and relationships
