Job Description
Job Objective
Manage end to end financial accounting & bookkeeping function for new businesses being setup & supported by Batelco Digital Shared Services (DSS). Responsible for production of periodical management and statutory financial reporting.
Main responsibilities
Strategic
• Assist the Director of Finance in preparing the finance strategy and the strategic initiatives to be aligned with the digital growth Strategy
• Monitor, track and report performance against strategic initiatives
Financial
• Assist the Director of Finance in preparing the budget for the sub-function
• Monitor and track adherence to the approved budget and highlight deviations
• Perform all month end activities related to accounting for operating expenses in the books of accounts. Book opex cost, maintain accrual accounts and book journals at period end to ensure that the P&L related to each period accurately reflects the opex
Operational
• Accounting/ bookkeeping for all businesses supported by the Digital Shared Services (DSS). Finalization and Preparation of the monthly management accounts and associated analysis
• Prepare quarterly, half yearly and annual financial statements of the supported business entities (in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements)
• Perform reconciliations for Bank and GL accounts in line with company policy
• Act as focal point for dealing with all finance user related matters for a new ERP system the organization is in process of getting implemented
• Liaise with external & internal auditors to ensure all audit are conducted efficiently and audit concerns are duly and timely addressed
• Participate in periodical Budgeting and planning activity. Manage Budget control over costs as per assigned targets.
• Prepare periodic/adhoc presentation material for management/ BoD
• Issue / record invoices, debit notes, credit notes as required. Initiate and manage payment & receipt transactions.
• Act as a subject matter expert on IFRS application issues across the organization
• Act as a subject matter expert on VAT related matters
• Improve, automate business processes & controls/ setup new ones wherever required
• Ad hoc project work, including implementation of any new IFRS’s
• Manage reporting to parent company (including mappings to parent company ERP/ Consolidation system)
• Additional tasks as allocated from time to time (i.e. being in a business being setup from scratch, new requirements will emerge with passage of time which will pose the challenge of a changing job profile but at the same time will offer opportunities to grow)
People
• Supervise other junior team members. Mentoring and coaching staff to improve their skill sets
• Take ownership for attending the trainings as per the plan
• Take ownership for completing PMS process, employee engagement surveys in time
• Continuously share the knowledge and understanding of the telecom industry and business trends
Skills
Qualification
•Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
• 5 years of experience in financial accounting functions in the telecom environment. including at least 2 years post qualification experience
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, HRMS and MS office applications such as Excel, Access and Power Point.
• Good technical accounting skills and in-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS
• English language spoken and written skills.
• Optional:
• Arabic language spoken and written skills.
•Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA ) or equivalent
